ALL IT NEEDS IS A GLASS BULB!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I’m a coffee lover, and not a snooty one. I have French presses; Aero Press; Chemex; Senseo; Krups Espresso; Toddy Cafe; Bodum Santos Stovetop Vaccuum maker (the most FUN way to brew!) even a 4-cup bare bones Mr. Coffee that makes a decent cup in part because the dang thing really heats to about 186 degrees – how rare is THAT these days? (On that note, I recently returned a Keurig… 155 degrees just doesn’t quite cut the mustard.)
Some “experts” like to poo-poo the brewing method. Okay – it might not be the “ideal” way to brew coffee, but let’s be honest, who has time to cold brew (the BEST method, I reckon), Aero Press, French Press, etc? Save these for Sunday morning while you read the paper and listen to NPR.
For the rest of the week, it’s all about convenience and speed, and a percolator is the perfect fit. No filters to throw away (even after putting the grounds down the drain, I can never seem to get that filter to the waste bin without leaving a few drops on the counter or floor); it’s simple to clean-up; and it’s made well enough to look excellent sitting on the counter – certainly retro!
One of the percolators strong points is that it produces a HOT cup of joe. Another is the SPEED – the Farberware makes a full 12 cups in no time. And – by the way -we’re talking EIGHT OUNCE cups, not 5 or 6, like most of the European designed products. Keep that in mind if you’re comparing brew times.
The “timer” on the Farberware is JUST RIGHT, too. To alter the strength of the brew, simply adjust the amount of grounds.
The only thing that prevents me from giving it 5 Stars is that it doesn’t have the classic glass bulb on top – something that makes a percolator just a bit more fun, and at least a small nostalgic.
The best coffee
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was given a Farberware percolator coffee maker years ago as a wedding gift and loved it! Once you have had percolator coffee, it is hard to go back to drip. There is a certain difference in the taste! And Percolator coffee is hotter than drip coffee. Many years after I got the original Farberware, my husband cleaned it by immersing it in soapy water and it never worked again. We then switched to drip for a while and despised it. Then I bought another brand of percolator as it was cheaper. It didn’t last long. It looked cheap and felt cheap and only lasted a few years. We ultimately went back to a Farberware percolator. This one has been going strong for years, and I like it! It makes the coffee quick, and like I said, you can’t beat the taste or the smell! I will never switch again!
This is the best percolator….

Not only does it make fantastic coffee, it makes it super quick and scalding hot! One thing you may not know about the Farberware Millennium Percolators is after the unit stops perking, it switches to warm and then switches OFF after 2 hours. I like this simple to use, simple to clean coffee maker. It’s light weight, compact and ALL stainless steel components….LIKE IT!!!
Fantastic value

I am very pleased with the quality, price and delivery. Christmas shopping was much simpler. Thanks Amazon.Com
I like it

I like this coffee maker.
Had it for about a month.
Pros:
makes excellent coffee, keeps it hot – performs better than the “mr. Coffee” type maker, takes up less space on your counter and looks nicer, (unless you like high tech), you don’t have to worry about breaking glass carafes
Con’s:
messy clean up, need to use “dip it” to get stains out of insides, still use a filter disk if you don’t want coffee grinds in your teeth, the outside stainless / chrome end after a month is starting to look aged. pricier than “Cheapie” coffee makers, less expensive than “high tech” makers
It broke after 3 1/2 months
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Our previous Farberware coffeemaker lasted over 4 years. This one lasted 3 1/2 months. Yesterday morning, one of the prongs in the base broke off, making the pot unusable.
There was a time when Farberware sold high-quality products. Sadly, those days are apparently gone. This Chinese-made percolator is garbage.
Coffee no longer hot enough
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Mine was a fine percolator for about a year or two, but now only brews lukewarm coffee. I’ll try another manufacturer next time around. Other percs I’ve owned have not worn out like this one, so I have to conclude that the heating element is not sufficiently robust for a long service life.
Very bummed:(
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Bought it for myself for Christmas, went to use it and found that the top is so tight and hard to take off I had to practically tackle it. Needless to say I knew straight away I didn’t want to struggle with a coffee pot and never used it. Chose to send it right back. It appears nice and sturdy, well made too, perhaps I just got a bumm one but I’m not trying another.
imediate delivery!

I ordered this for my Grandmother who has and always will use this small perk for her morning coffee. It was delivered in days and now she is very pleased. By the way her last one lasted her for more than 15 years!
Works fantastic but coffee taste has poor quality.
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This works fantastic. It’s stainless steel, which is a plus. But the coffee does not taste very excellent. The same coffee beans ground for a drip coffee maker taste remarkably better. This makes fantastic coffee beans taste like coffee store generic beans. Also, it take twice as much coffee to make an equal amount of coffee. So, over the long term, it’s more expensive to use.
One minor drawback
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This item was requested by my daughter. I was given a small percolator like this a couple of years ago and she wanted one like it. I questioned her how it had worked for her, and her comment was that a few of the grounds were left in the coffee after perking. I’ve noticed the same thing with mine. Do they make filters for this pot? Otherwise, it works very well and suits our purpose.
Like this thing!

I had bought a GE 12 cup percolator for when we have a large number of guests, as I was using a 4 cup drip for everyday. I was so impressed with the difference in the taste of the coffee I had to buy this upon seeing it on Amazon. It looks fantastic on my counter, and takes up less room than the ancient 4 cup drip thing. It doesn’t take long to set up at night before bed and all I have to do is plug it in in the morning. Well worth the price and the extra few minutes to set up.
I ordered but have not received the filters for percolators which should help with the few grounds I do get in a cup. This has not diminished the coffee but. I just let the 5 or so grounds come to the top and I get them out with my spoon. I reckon the filters will eliminate that.
Overall, I’m loving this cutie!

We bought this to replace one of those ridiculously overpriced 100 dollar stainless coffee makers that just up and died after 2 years of use. We have been absolutely thrilled with this pot for the last year. We have no complaints, just pot after pot of fantastic smelling hot, hot, HOT coffee. Hotter than the drip makers make it, but not burned like it gets in the drip pot. I’m going to buy the 12 cup size for when we have people over. Fantastic price and fantastic product!
Farberware percolator

makes the absolutely best coffee I have tasted – never again will I use a drip coffee maker. This one is so quick my coffee is ready by the time I go a get my paper and get the coffee cup, cream and sugar out.
Brilliant coffee pot
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
First and foremost, this coffee pot is brilliant. But in composing the final order, I deleted the original order for the coffee pot alone and, instead, bought the same coffee pot and the recommended filters and the recommended glass knob for the coffee pot lid as a bundled buy. Well, the filters are fine, but when the coffee pot order arrived, it contained two coffee pots, and the glass knob from another vendor cannot be attached to this 2-4 cup coffee pot because the lid is solid metal — there is no provision on the lid for such a knob to be attached. Note #1: Subsequently, Amazon generously refunded the cost of the redundant coffee pot. Note #2: This percolator coffee pot makes brilliant coffee — especially if you buy Peet’s Sumatran.
Gets WAY too hot!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this coffee maker to save counter space. It is quite small, and it does make coffee, but it heats up the coffee way too hot and gives it a burned taste. It helps a small to use refrigerated water, and to unplug it immediately after it finishes brewing, but it still burns the coffee and stays ridiculously hot for a long time after it’s unplugged. I wish I had bought the stovetop version and not sacrificed quality for convenience.
Don’t buy a Farberware FCP280!!!!!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
On Sept. 3rd I made this buy. Sometime it worked and sometime it did not! I returned it to Applica Consumer Products on Oct 12th. I am still waiting for a replacement because, “It is on backorder.” Today, 11/23, I called for the sixth time. I received the same tale. They’re coming in in a week. When I questioned how do I get a refund, I was told they don’t make refunds. You don’t need the aggravation. Go to a store and buy it. If it doesn’t work, you can take it back and get your money!!

Didn’t last very long
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this coffee pot about a year ago and only used it occasionally. The last time I tried to use it the part where you plug the cord into the base of the coffee pot collapsed, making the pot unusable. I thought I was getting a quality coffee pot that would last for years, like my ancient Farberware percolator did, but apparently they are not made as well as they used to be.
Farberware 12 cup percolator
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This percolator makes the best coffee and keeps it piping hot. Comes with a heavy duty cord. Simple to clean and takes up small room on your counter. I have had one for several years. I bought this one for my mother after she kept exclaiming how much she likes the coffee I make. She was so pleased to receive it.
This is not the Farberware you mother bragged about
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
To be honest, I do not own this specific model. My review is about what looked like and was sold as the exact same pot a few years ago. Correction, the three pots I bought a few years ago.
When three pots failed (coffee not hot, electic sparks, heating element went) I did a small research. I do not have all the detail handy anymore, but I remember, the origial Farberware company was a privately held company located in the Bronx, NY. The original owners chose to sell the company instead of giving in to the landlord; do not believe it was a product or employee issue.
I believe licensing / ownership of the brand name changed a number of times. Today it is owned by Lifetime Brands, Inc., and the Meyer Co. holds the license to market products under the Farberware brand name. I reckon I got all this right; who owns and who licenses the right to market products under a brand name gets complicated.
Serve it to say, the Farberware brand our mothers knew and loved is not the brand you see on the shelves today. It’s a darn shame. That pot made the best cup of cofee you could get, and it was HOT!
P.S. I bought and had to replace/ eventually return the Presto Percolator I bought at WalMart as well. I no longer trust electronics sold by WalMart as I do not believe they meet the same spes as a similar looking models sold in department stores. I might be incorrect, but too many returns to trust further.
An fascinating read: Go here for some history on ownership of the Farberware brand-name:

Excellent Solid Value
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Does the job and does it well. Very dependable as long as you don’t submerse the element in the base unit. A excellent, solid American value of the traditional type.
Like it, but do not buy the suggested glass top
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have had the percolator for about a week now and absolutely like it. It is so much cuter than those beasty drip machines. Simple to keep clean and shiny, again unlike the drip machines that always look dirty. The coffee is very smooth and much hotter than with the drip machines. The cats had a small distress with the “noise” of the perking at first.
I want to point out that Amazon suggests you buy a glass top as part of the order. I thought that would be fantastic to be able to see the coffee perking, just as I did when I saw my mom and dad’s ancient Corningware stovetop percolator when I was kid. The item they suggest from a partner, thepartsbiz, DOES NOT fit this percolator. It was under $3.00, but had nearly $5.00 in S&H. I felt $7.74 would be OK, but now that I know it won’t work, I am out $7.74 and it isn’t cost effective to return it.
brews (perks) the best coffee every time

I want a hot cup of coffee and this electric percolator makes tasty hot coffee every single time
Still the best small pot out there
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After over 15 years of more than faithful service without a hitch, my parents’ Farberware percolator finally went out of commission by way of a broken handle nearly two years ago. Since then they have gone through at least 7 drip pots and percolators of all different makes and models and no one, and I mean NO one can match this pot. Some of them have broken, some just have an off taste, and ALL of them failed to brew and keep the coffee as hot as we all were used to from the ancient pot. For one reason or another, all were returned in hopes something would match the ancient pot.
I myself inherited their like for the Farberware brand, after buying my first 8 cup which proved too huge for me 4 years ago. I passed it on to my brother, and bought myself the dinky 4 cup model 2 years ago. Both have been performing hot and strong without a hitch since then, and after the latest failed pot buy (a GE brand 12 cup percolator, their second try for this brand) my parents were delighted to learn that Amazon sells the 12 cup pot that broke on them. Apparently they don’t sell them in the stores anymore, at least not in any store I can find.
After trying Cuisinart, Kitchenaide, GE, Mr. Coffee, and I don’t even WANT to name how many others, there is still no other pot that makes coffee quite like the Farberware. I am a customer for life
Farberware Coffee Maker
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Brilliant small coffee pot. Bought because of all stainless steel construction. No plastic parts. I really own three (3) of them. Home, and both offices at work.
Farberware 2-4 cup works well
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Coffee pot works well and makes excellent, flavorful coffee. The Amazon price is the best one you’ll find on this item; all the others were at least $20 more. Coffee pot is cheerfully noisy, as all percolators are, and gets the job done honestly quick (percs always take longer than drip, remember). The only thing missing from this unit is a light that goes on while you are percolating, and either goes off or changes color when it’s done. You simply have to listen to tell when it’s finished. But other than that, no complaints! I’ve found Farberware to be a excellent brand, and as long as you keep the pot and its components clean (free of oily coffee buildup) and don’t get water in the electricals, you should be fine. Also, to get the best flavor, you might want to use a non-chlorinated bottled water (rather than tap, if you are running city water). I have found that to make a chose difference in any coffee making.
Farberware 8 Cup Percolator
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This coffeee pot is fantastic. It keeps the coffee pipping hot and it brews quickly. What I really like about it is that you doesn’t have to take up room on your counter tops. If you choose to leave on counter is is smaller than a regular “Mr. Coffee” type machine.
Broke in Two Weeks
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Brought the Farberware 8-Cup Percolator in September,2009 and it lasted for only two weeks. They are sending me a replacement, but I am without a coffee maker until it comes. Their products today are not the same quality as the older Farbware products.
couldn’t live without it!!
