Makes a fantastic cup of Peet’s coffee!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
It consistently makes an brilliant cup of coffee! It is simple to operate and clean. The design is simple and the appearance is clean.
My negative comments about the carafe are wordy but very minor. It would be nice to have a removable carafe lid for washing. I hold the lid closed with my thumb while pouring and sometimes hot vapor escapes between the lid and handle and my thumb gets very warm. If I forget and rinse the bottom of the carafe last, the handle fills with water and sometimes pours on me and the floor when I turn it over.
It’s not fresh
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I owned the older version of the Capresso Grind & Brew and was excited to see this new version in a catalog. I just logged on to Amazon and read some reviews and was disappointed to see it’s still the same technology. Because you’re brewing the coffee you really ground a couple of days ago, it’s not fresh – and the older version really didn’t make very hot coffee. From what I’m reading they may have gotten the coffee hotter but it’s still not fresh – and that’s why I use a Grind & Brew.
I’m now using a Cuisinart Grind & Brew and I’m much more pleased with it than the Capresso. First of all, I guess I’m just not as sophisticated as some of the reviewers but I don’t really care if my beans get heated up during the grinding process because my machine uses a blade grinder instead of a burr grinder. If you aren’t even using that coffee for two or three days, what’s the difference? Secondly, the Cuisinart brews the coffee quick – and I mean QUICK! And it’s really hot. And lastly – yes I do have to clean the grind chamber after each use and I don’t have a reservoir of beans – you have to place in only what you’re going to grind at that time. I get up, pour my coffee and it takes me about 30 seconds to rinse out the grind chamber, the plastic top and the filter basket and place them on a paper towel to dry – and it’s ready for my decaf coffee that night. You don’t have 30 seconds in the morning? I can then grind and brew my decaf at night – with the Capresso, you would have to empty all the beans out of the reservoir (hard to do because it’s not removable) and all the coffee sitting in the channel you ground yesterday or even the day before (not fresh) to change coffee. Of course, you could just use ground decaf at night but this sort of defeats the purpose of having a Grind & Brew coffee maker, doesn’t it?
Fresh and Excellent Coffee, Simple to Use and Clean
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
INTRO. My wife and I like excellent coffee, but are novices at making it. We used to get our fix from Duncan Donuts or McDonalds (Starbucks being a bit too bitter and expensive for our tastes). Not anymore.
With this machine, we’ve learned to make coffee to our liking at home. Not only have we saved time and money in the morning, but we no longer have to roll the dice on freshness and quality every day. As a side benefit, our home smells wonderful after coffee-making.
EASE OF USE. It’s simple to use. Just (1) fill the grinder with beans and set how finely you’d like them ground, (2) fill the maker with the amount of water you want, (3) set the corresponding number of cups you’d like to grind, (4) tweak your preference for light, medium, or dark, and (5) push start. Programming to make coffee at a certain time of day is also a breeze. It may take you a few tries (as it did us) to figure out how to tweak the preferences to match your tastes, but after that, it’s like flying on auto-pilot.
EASE OF CLEANING. It’s also simple to clean. Rinse out the pot and filter basket with a small bit of soap. If you use the included gold-tone filter, you’ll need to rinse that out as well. We prefer the ease of a paper filter. Besides, the gold-tone one seems to let through just enough fine coffee grinds to be noticeable at the bottom of a cup. Hopefully, the savings in water makes up for the wasted paper.
DESIGN. The off-center grinder prevents steam from the coffee maker from infiltrating the grinding chamber. Some other grind-and-brew machines have the grinder directly above the coffee-making elements, where (according to reviewers) condensation could make them a chore to clean. Not here.
NOISE. It’s not as loud as we expected–or feared–from some reviews. Like the noise from a garbage disposal, you get used to it. If you place the coffee-maker in the kitchen rather than next to your bed, the noise from grinding should not be an issue after a week or so.
CONCLUSION. We’re not coffee connoisseurs by any stretch, but we do know excellent (and terrible) coffee when we taste it. This machine lets us make reliably excellent coffee from the convenience of home. It’s simple to use and clean. Worth the money.
Solid machine with a few minor flaws
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I received the CoffeeTeam GS for Christmas and, overall, I’ve been satisfied with the quality of the product. It does take some effort to settle on the right settings for coffee grinding, but once you determine your preferred settings, the machine really does a consistent job brewing flavorful coffee. The result of grinding immediately before brewing is that you get the aroma of freshly ground beans and the coffee does taste much better if you drink it right after brewing completes. If you wait more than 30 minutes with the coffee on the hotplate, but, the taste degrades quite a bit and isn’t much better than my ancient Braun.
Improvements:
Here are a few areas that could be improved:
1. Some grind do get into the coffee. When the grinding setting is set to the two most course settings, this is tolerable but the finer settings allow a fantastic deal to flow into the pot. This doesn’t really impact my use since I brew dark beans which should be coarsely ground.
2. The grinder is LOUD. Pros and Cons to this: When I set the machine to start automatically in the morning, it literally serves as a second alarm clock. This morning, I can’t remember hearing my normal alarm ring but was jolted awake when the coffee grinder started. The negative aspect to this is that I dread that my neighbors may also benefit from this wake up call (I live in a condo). So far, no complaints, but my 5:30 to 6:00am wakeups may not be appreciated if the sound travels through walls…
3. I live by myself so I never brew 8 or 10 cup pots. In the morning I brew a 4 or 6 cup pot and the coffee turns out fine. But if I brew a two cup pot, no matter what setting I use, the coffee is very weak. Most machines don’t brew small quantities well, so I’m not shocked, but at the same time, one would hope that a machine this expensive would do a better job.
4. It uses a lot of beans. I’m probably using twice as many beans as with my Braun. Yes, the coffee is much better, so I guess it is worthwhile … but I’m not going to be pleased spending twice as much money on coffee this year. (As an aside, I may save some money since coffee house brewed coffee is not any better than what the Capresso brews – this was not right for the Braun so I would occasionally get a cup down the street. Haven’t done that since I started using Capresso).
5. Weird filter. I wanted to stop using the gold filter since it is kind of a pain to clean and I reckon paper filters may eliminate the grounds in the coffee. But I cannot find any retailer selling the filters that Capresso’s customer service told me to use.
Overall, I’m glad to have the machine and recommend it.
Fantastic coffee maker fantastic service
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my first review but I’m taking the time to express how impressed I am with this product and the company. I bought the coffee maker/burr grinder combo because of my annoyance with grinding beans that get all over the place. This coffee maker grinder/combo works wonderfully. Place the beans in, set the grind setting, and there you go. The consistency of the grind is awesome! I have it set to grind the finest with a mix of esspresso and columbian beans with no clogging problems at all for over a month now. I was wary because I had heard gripes about how loud the grinder is but I really found it to be quieter than my previous stand alone Cappresso grinder which cost $60 alone. I get up at 0400 and it doesn’t wake up the rest of the house. The best part was the customer service. After a couple of days, I noticed that the clock appeared to be off. I measured it over several days and it finished up that the digital clock ran quick which messed up the programmed time I wanted coffee in the morning. I was worried that it would be a pain to return since I bought it on the internet and return or repair would be a hassel. When I called the 800 number for Capresso in the manual and told them my tale they sent me out a replacement unit (without even requiring proof or info that I bought the unit from a third party). The new unit arrived with return UPS mark (I didn’t need to pay for shipping for the new unit or return) and it works fantastic!
I recommend this buy whole heartedly. If your looking at this machine because you want fantastic fresh coffee with NO mess and NO worries, this is the machine and the company for you!
Very Pleased!

Originally bought a Cuisinart – which was DREADFUL! Replaced it with this baby – and am very pleased. SIMPLE to clean – and makes a excellent cuppa Joe! Highly recommend!
Don’t buy this coffee maker if you like to grind dark roast beans
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I’m using Capresso machine #2, first returned after a few days because the grinder started smoking. The second grinds, but clogs and won’t deliver grinds to the filter basket… I like dark roast coffee, so switching to a less oily bean isn’t an option. I’m very disappointed with this maker. Call to Capresso customer service wasn’t returned. I’ll be contacting Amazon for a return.
Wow… Clean counter tops
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my first review for Amazon and this experience has been fab!!!!!
Amazon did everything perfect first of all and then there is this most fantastic coffee grinder/brewer… WOW. I bought this before Christmas and I’m ordering my second one today (I’m Decaf and he’s hi-test)!!
Here are my positive thoughts:
And vital to me: it’s stylish as a non disruptive appliance in my kitchen, which is a soft, open part of my home (not a garage full of automotive styled gadgets) sorry, but appliances are not an vital part of the look I’m after and I don’t want them to be noticed… This is perfect for that concept.
1) It’s a breeze to set up and get going.
2) It’s very simple to “program” and use several times a day.
3) The swing-out basket is simple to use and rinse (I choose paper filters instead of the supplied mesh basket).
4) Understanding where the fill lines are inside is very do-able even though they are inside the unit and the first time I had to get out a flashlight, then I realized I could just count down backwards by two if I wanted less than the 10 cup top mark…. very ok with me.
5) The grinder is QUIETER than the other brand(starts with a C) I have sitting next to it (currently for HIS beans) and it is a very pleasant “alarm clock” at 6am which motivates me towards my #6
6) Undoubtedly the most tasty cup of coffee ever to touch my lips. I use Dunkin beans and bottled water…. and I am convinced it’s better than I get AT DUNKIN!!!
7) There is NO mess… No dripping…
Negatives:
1) The bean container could be larger… I have to fill it everyday (but that shows you how much we like the coffee) This could also be a height restriction they had to fit under residential cabinets (which I do not have) so we will excuse it.
2) You have to remember to coordinate the cup setting (2,4,6,8, or 10) of grinding to the amount of WATER you place in!!!! The first time, ha, ha, I FILLED the water reservoir but only questioned for 4 cups of coffee….. I got VERY weak 10 cups of coffee!! Surprise. I have done this 3 times because I’m distracted and forgot to coordinate 2 things!!! ha ha. This is more about the instruction guide and level of automation in the unit. More of an operations thing which we CAN get over.
That’s it!! Essentially, there is NOTHING incorrect with this coffee system!!!!
I look forward to their “product improvements” and would question them to make a model which is directly hooked up to our water line (like my frig) and has sensors to dispatch the amount of water that would go with the bean grinding number (just a suggestion). And to add a larger bean hopper….
While I’m asking for things, there could be a large model with two hoppers, two grinders and….. why would they do that???? they just got me to buy TWO for one house and I will buy one for my mom for mothers day and one for my sister for her birthday..
Done. FABULOUS PRODUCT
oh yeah, throughout the holidays and all that brings, EVERYONE LOVED the coffee and the grinding noise was fine (I threw a small quilted cloth over it during dinner) and I will make a custom cover for it so I’m prepared to entertain properly (worse than Martha huh??)
Has issues and it shouldn’t for $187!!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Just got this for my hubby for Christmas. I thought I would spend money to “buy the best”,
well, it makes decent coffee but the grinder clogs if you use beans that are too “oily”
we used Caribou coffee beans and the grinder got clogged and bean pieces flew out of the top.
Also, I have to agree with other reviewers in that it makes a very weird “Popping” sound on the burner
plate that sounds like glass cracking. Makes me a small nervous…like something is not right with it
and I should not keep it plugged in and warm. For the money it should be better. Really, I’m beginning to believe
that buying a small appliance that really works like advertised and that lasts for more than a year is a impossibility…..
Is there anything not made in China anymore?????? Even when you spend “more” it doesn’t equate with quality…”more” just means
extra bells and whistles…I’m fed up!
Jammed on first use, don’t know about coffee quality
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
While most reviews on this device are overwhelmingly positive, our experience matched that of others that slammed the Capresso maker for jamming. The first time we tried to use the device the door to release the fresh grounds did not open fully and very small of the grounds make it into the filter. Worse, the chute from the grinder to the filter got jammed full of coffee grounds and had to be cleared out manually. Once the grounds were cleared from the chute, we tried again but it was worse the second time in that we couldn’t get any coffee grounds to come out of the grinder whatsoever (even though it sounds like it’s trying to grind more). And yes, the grinder is loud, though no worse than my current Melitta unit. Overall not a fantastic first experience.
Amazon’s support has been fantastic and they’re sending a second unit overnight. I guess we’ll see if the issue is related to poor quality control on a specific unit or if these units are sensitive to darker roast/more oily beans as one reviewer suggested. We’ll update the review once we see how the second unit works.
Coffee House Flavor
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have owned a Milita and 2 Cuisinarts grind and brew coffee makers and the Capresso 464.05 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker wins hands down. I have had this unit for about 45 days and it gives you Fantastic flavor that comes close to coffee house brews. It’s nice not having to measure coffee every day and it’s so simple to clean – just rinse out the filter, filter basket and pot and you’re done. As for grinding noise – it is at a lower pitch than my other grind and brews and not unpleasant. If you kept your pot in the bedroom it might be a problem. I like the bright show and buttons (which some have complained about) because they are simple to read even in the dark. My only complaint is it is a small hard to see the scale used to determine the amount of water that you place in the pot unless you have a light above the pot – it’s the same as on the Cuisinarts. The unit is well made and give you several options to custom brew to your liking.
best grind and brew
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After reading all of the dreadful reviews on other grind and brew machines….and after my ancient Melita finally gave out and learning that their new model also had dreadful consumer reviews…I am pleased to say that this Capresso Coffeemaker is WONDERFUL! Some reviews said the burr grinder is very loud and grinds for too long. I disagree. I’ve had mine for over a month now and I have zero complaints.
Do you like to drink mud?
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have been using Capresso coffeemakers for 10 years. My first two were the kind where the filter basket swings back and forth – the 454 which is no longer made. I loved these machines. They each lasted 4 – 5 years. When the more recent one started leaking all over the counter, I replaced it with this new 464.05. Even though I have it set to the coarsest grind, it grinds the coffee so fine that the last two cups are undrinkable because of the amount of sediment – it is like mud. Capresso Customer Service call number one resulted in them sending me replacement parts for the bottom of the filter basket. This did not help, but the gentlemen was quite pleasant. The second Customer Service call leaves me not wanting another Capresso coffeemaker ever – the woman was rude and just kept repeating herself over and over: “using the the gold tone filter results in sediment”. Well ok, but if using this filter (that comes with the machine) results in undrinkable coffee, something is incorrect with the machine. Talk about leaving a terrible taste in my mouth….
Capresso grinder is fantastic
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this coffeemaker based on favorable Amazon reviews. It works very well, produces brilliant coffee, and there is minimal cleanup, unlike other grinders. I have since bought a second one of this model to send as a Christmas gift.
Fantastic burr grinder/brewer / Simple to use, simple to clean
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We had a Cuisinart brind/brew that quit grinding beans after a month. We replaced it with another Cuisinart thinking terrible luck on that machine. The second Cuisinart also broke. They had us send the whole unit back to where we bought it for replacement!
We then saw and ordered the Capresso. What a fantastic unit. It is VERY simple to clean and even simpler to use. Very simple to prgram as well. Fantastic cup of coffee when done brewing.
The best
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This coffee maker is probably the best grind and brew on the market. It makes brilliant tasting coffee and does it from day one until now months later, oh and it does it with absolutly no mess!
Some have said here that the grinder is to loud, not right! I reckon they are being to critical of it… The conicle grindiner makes the coffee taste fantastic and once agian does it with no mess.
I personally say it is worth every penny!!!
Best coffee ever
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This coffee maker is absolutely fabulous. I have had 2 Cuisinart grind and brew as well as a Melita. This is by far the simplest for cleanup and the taste is out of this world. Whether you like your coffee strong or weak this is the coffee maker for you!
disappointed
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this Capresso coffee machine after my previous Capresso swing filter machine developed problems. I had been pleased with my previous Capresso, so I thought the new machine would be as excellent or better than the ancient one, but I was sadly mistaken.
First of all, the burr grinder in the new machine is very rough sounding, as though it was poorly made, whereas the ancient machine had a grinder that ran very smoothly and quietly. But the main reason for my disappointment is that the chute from the grinder to the filter basket clogs continually. After spending I don’t know how much time cleaning the chute in the hope that it would finally work correctly, I finally gave up. Expecting a nice strong cup of coffee and ending up with nothing more than colored, or plain hot water is an exercise in frustration. Maybe the reason for the problem is that I use dark, Italian or French roast coffee which is pretty oily, but the fact remains that my coffee maker cannot cope with the beans – maybe it’s a fluke, or maybe not.
If I can’t get my money back on this uncooperative coffee machine, I’ll just take it to the dump and forget about the money I lost. I would not recommend that you buy this product, especially if you use dark roasted beans for your coffee.
Would Have Been 5-Stars – but burner had a scratch on arrival
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The machine works fantastic as every other reviewer indicates. Simple to setup and program for auto brew.
Honestly simple to clean also.
Only complaint is my unit arrived double-boxed…but upon unboxing the glossy printed inside box and removing the product, I noticed after taking the carafe out that the burner had a pretty visible scratch on the surface/coating.
I doubt it will affect the near-term performance…but I’m kinda upset a groundbreaking new item would be shipped with such a defect. For $185 bucks, I want the item to be perfect with zero flaws or blemishes.
So Capresso gets a 2-star for Quality Control (if it left the factory with this scratch).
Design of product is 5-star (for the coffee it makes and the ease of use/cleaning).
Amazon is 3.5-star for packaging (outside box was pretty shabby/thin and may have led to the issue).
Overall experience/satisfaction 4-star. Would certainly recommend to a friend or family member.
Brilliant.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Bought this item a few weeks ago, but wanted to give it some time before leaving a review. It worked from the moment it came out of the box and I have not yet stopped being impressed. The coffee tastes fantastic from it once you figure out which setting works best for you. Simple to use and clean. I cant reckon of anything that would be considered a Con for this machine. I live in a small-ish 2 bedroom apt, and I honestly have not had any issues with noise. This thing runs perfectly and I now look forward to waking up to a fresh brewed pot of heaven. Tho this product is pricey, you certainly get your money’s worth. I would recommend this to anyone.
As excellent as it gets (in grind&brew)
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m writing from the perspective of someone who has owned more grind&brew coffeemakers than the typical coffee addict. This one is as excellent a grind&brew machine as anyone makes.
First, the negatives:
- It is certainly loud and long in grinding, as other owners mention. The burr grinding process is wonderfully consistent compared to blade grinding, but it seems to take forever and the noise is enough to wake up the … sleeping.
- It doesn’t have a way to dump out the coffee beans if you want to change blends to another bean (though you can still place pre-ground coffee in the basket while there are beans waiting to be ground.)
- The carafe does tend to make a sort of “cracking” sound when it sits on the hotplate sometimes.
I have owned some of the most well loved, and some unusual, grind & brew machines in the past 30+ years, including a very different Capresso long, long ago. There are some models/brands that only have a single grind possibility (no settings), some that require constant cleaning of parts, some that fall apart within the year and don’t have even that much warranty, and one that was going to cost an extra $65 to replace the faulty super-recessed lid switch, which died after 4 months, without which it was really unusable. There’s only one of those previous coffeemakers that I’d buy again by choice, and they stopped making it over 20 years ago.
This Capresso is well made, nicely packaged, and has all the features I want:
- Fineness of grind is controlled with 5 possible settings
- Amount of beans ground (from the hopper that holds approx. 2-3 pots of beans) is settable in 2-cup increments from 2 to 10 cups.
- “Aroma” (i.e. darkness & flavor) is controlled with 3 settings, which in combination with other controls seems designed to yield every possible preference for “perfect” coffee.
- It has automatic shut-off. (One of the much-lower-priced grind&brew machines doesn’t have this feature, which I reckon should be mandatory on coffeemakers considering how many fires are started by overheating appliances.)
- It has drip-trip, which is critical as I often don’t want to wait for the full pot to brew before I take a cup in the morning.
- It’s completely programmable. Not only can you set a start time, but you can associate specific settings with the programmed time that are not the same as the current settings.
Other pluses that are less quantifiable:
- It doesn’t seem to cause me to spill water all over the counter in filling it, like the last one I had. I have no thought what design elements affect this, I just know that it happens with some coffeemakers & not others.
- It takes some parts in common with the other-brand grind&brew that I last had, which started leaking when brewing. The charcoal filters and basket, at the least, seem in common with many other brands.
It cost quite a bit compared to some of the more well loved models but, frankly, I’m convinced it’s worth the extra investment.
BEST YET
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
After 2 generations of Cuisenart Grind and Brew frustrations I took a shot on this Capresso unit. So far it has been just fantastic. The set up is simple and the clean up is a breeze compared to the Cuisenart. The noise is lower pitched so it really doesen’t bother me as it is no louder then a stand alone grinder. You must take time to try all the different combinations of grind, aroma and amount to find the perfect blend for your taste. It took us about 2 weeks of trying different combinations but now that we are set the coffee is perfect every time. We had a small issue with the drip stop but customer service was quick to send out a fix at no charge. I like this machine!
Makes fantastic coffee and is simple to use
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I had a older Capresso it made excellent coffee but was hard to use.
This new model is fantastic. Everything is set up simple and logical. I was able to use it without refereeing to the manual.
This is the first machine that grinds the coffee which is really nice and makes the best coffee every. We prefer coffee with the paper filter and do that with this machine even though it comes with a gold filter.
I would recommend this coffee machine to anyone that wants the best!
Fantastic coffee maker
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a replacement coffee maker for me. I have had the previous model, the Coffee Team Luxe for many, many years and it finally gave up. It was a wonderful coffee maker and grinder combination so I was hopeful that this new model would be as excellent. I was right, it is as excellent as the previous. The ancient model needed more room as it was larger and had a swing arm to grind the coffee and then swing into place to brew. This new model is smaller in width and internally switches something from grind to brew so it takes less space on the counter. The coffee tastes as excellent as before. It does take some adjusting to get it to the brew you like. But there are many combinations of darkness and amount of grinding to get it to the way you like. The downside is the charcoal filter is different along with the gold filter and carafe so none of the ancient model extras work with this new one. But that is a minor thing.
Worthless product
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
The first pot of coffee I made with this machine was a disappointment–nothing better than what you would expect from a $40 coffeemaker. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th pots were really pretty excellent.
I never got to have a 5th pot; the machine ground the beans, made about 1/4 inch worth of coffee and then stopped working. Restarted it, tried different settings–nothing. Completely non-functional.
Don’t waste your time buying this–Amazon has it on back order until December, and if you ever get it you may need to return it the next week.
Best Grind & Brew, Although It Is a Bit Loud
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’m a Top 1000 Reviewer here at Amazon, but haven’t reviewed anything in years — until now. The Capresso 464 compelled me.
First things first. This is not my first grind and brew. My ancient Melitta Mill & Brew, with its faulty plastic latch long since broken had become a drag. For years I had to place a box of chicken stock on top of the grind chamber to keep it shut so it would work! And while it made pretty excellent coffee, it seemed to waste grounds by spraying them inside the grinder basket. And the daily cleanup ritual had started to make the whole thought of grinding and brewing in one device seem only of marginal value. And yet, the alternatives, including a best-selling Cuisinart model, have notorious terrible reviews here at Amazon for being a total chore to clean.
Enter the Capresso CoffeeTeam GS, which solves all of my problems with its ingenious design. No longer do you have to measure the coffee. The CoffeeTeam GS will brew from 2 to 10 cups automatically, grinding just the right amount of beans with no guesswork. Cleanup is a breeze. The filter basket swings out and is easily washed. And because the grinding occurs in a separate chamber from the filter basket, there is no wasted coffee.
The quality of the coffee is also exactly what I want — hot, and with the full flavor of the bean preserved by the conical burr grinders. If you want stronger or weaker coffee, it’s very simple to do. You can also choose finer or coarser grinds depending on the type of coffee you are using (oily coffee should be coarser, light coffee finer).
There are two items that are drawbacks, but I don’t mind them so am still giving this five stars. First, the grinder is wake-up-your-wife loud. And it can go for 40 seconds if you are making a full pot. It’s not so loud that it hurts your ears, but it is not pleasant, and Capresso would have done well to add some amount of noise insulation. Second, because of the design, a small amount of ground coffee is left in the machine every time. This is an issue in two respects. First, switching from one type of coffee to another is not instantaneous, because invariably there is this overlap. Second, if you leave the machine unused for more than about a week, Capresso recommends cleaning out the coffee chamber and using new coffee. That’s because the coffee will get a small more stale with each passing day. But like I said, in my mind these are very minor complaints to a really fantastic product!
Best Coffee Ever!

We just got our Capresso Grind and Brew coffee maker and are absolutely amazed how much better coffee can taste if it is freshly ground before brewing. It’s analagous to getting contacts after wearing glasses for many years!! I was a bit intimidated at first and thought it would take alot of work setting it up and learning how to use it. But less than 10 minutes after unpacking it, we were watching it grind and brew our first carafe of coffee. The clean up was fantastic, the coffee was hot, and the smell of fresh ground coffee was outstanding. I didn’t find the grinding too loud. And it didn’t seem to take too long to go through the full grind and brew cycle (approx 15 minutes). I will try to remember to repost in a month after more use, but I just wanted everyone to know that our “out of the box” experience was outstanding! Excellent job Capresso!
FANTASTIC COFFEE WITH A FEW ISSUES

Overall the Coffee Team GS is fantastic.
But, I have owned two CoffeeTeams with the “swing filter” design. I loved those machines but got tired of wiping up the coffee powder that it would drop on my countertop when the filter would accept the freshly ground coffee and then FLIP back into the brewing position. I cleaned the coffee shoot often but if you use the finer-grind setting, it seemed to always have that issue. The other was that it never made the coffee hot enough. The new CoffeeTeam GS brews VERY HOT coffee. I tested it at 192 degrees when first brewed.
For the newly designed CoffeeTeam GS, it has a nicely styled look with fantastic quality construction as Capresso is known for (I have also owned a Capresso “Ultima” machine and the older swiss “Lantern” style machine that was later discontinued.
I don’t despise it enought to return for a refund, but there are 5 main things that annoy me about this new design:
1) Coffee Grinder is LOUDER than the swing-type machine.
2) Because it is designed to grind at a slower speed (to prevent the beans from getting hot), it ends up grinding for 45 seconds straight for a six cup setting. This doesn’t seem long in theory, but watch your second hand for 45 seconds and it will seem FOREVER, especially if you are sleeping and you have it set to brew before you get out of bed.
3)The water pump seems to GRUNT alot during the brewing process and then make that GURGLING sound when it is pushing the final drops of water out. Try making coffee when you have dinner guests over and you will see how loud it can be. As a comparison, I really went and bought the Cuinart Grind-n-Brew (burr version) to compare side-to-side and have to say it was very silent during the brewing process, but the grinder action was equivalent to the CoffeeTeam GS in grinding slowly (except the grinder had an annoying high-pitch sound to it). I opted to stick to the louder, “low-tone” that the CoffeeTeam GS provides.
4) The Carafe seems to make this odd popping/cracking sound as it sits on the warming plate (and I am not talking about the sound it might make if there is water drops under it).
5) The front panel has a LED-lit panel which is extra bright white. It needs to offer a dimming feature. Also, the function light that are RED and GREEN are very piercingly bright as well, and could be less obvious. To compare, the Cuisinart machine I tried, had a lousy front panel that was completely un-lit and you can’t even see the time of day on it or make your setting changes without a flashlight.
If you can get past any or all of these 4 points, you will very much delight in this machine. Also, Capresso is very customer-focused. Anytime I have had any issues with their machines, they respond very quick and in some cases (like for missing rubber gaskets or filter parts) they have really shipped them to me at no charge – even though my machine was 4 years ancient. You need to make sure you register your product with them upfront.
THE BEST

I owned 2 Cuisinart grind and brews. 1 broke in a year, the others grinder stopped grinding well-enough and they both took 10 minutes to clean. You also couldn’t make coffee again until the pieces dried after cleaning. I like this machine! 30 second clean-up, and the best tasting coffee I’ve ever had! Don’t consider any other grinder/brewer, this is awesome!
OUTSTANDING!!!!
