Just Perfect For My Needs
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I was so pleased to find a 5 cup coffee maker when my Mr. Coffee, 10 cup, died after many years of wonderful but light use. I started looking for a coffee maker with 5 cups rather than 4, because I am accustomed to 24 ounces of coffee, only, each morning and need nothing more than that during a 24 hour period. At 5 ounces per cup, the 4 cup coffee makers would not service my needs.
I also wanted to use a coffee filter made of paper but this Black and Decker came with it’s own permanent filter and I did not want the mess those grounds would leave, plus one more thing to clean, but read a review here that this coffee maker was also being used by a person who place 4 cup paper coffee filters in hers. That was the review that made me choose to buy the Black and Decker.
I have used it now for several mornings and like it. I lifted the small permanent filter out and replaced it with a 4 cup paper filter, and all works perfectly for me. I like this small coffee maker and the coffee does stay hot on the plate for two hours, as the advertising states. I fill the water compartment and coffee grounds basket the night before and it is ready for me the next morning. Life is excellent. So is the taste of the coffee this small 5 cup Black and Decker sweetheart, provides me.

After two years, the pot stopped working
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
After two years, the pot abruptly stopped working – and I only brew 3 cups every now and then in the morning. I have reported this to consumer report who have responded many same complaints.

Better than $100 coffee maker
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I first looked at some $100 models .. but then chose to keep it simple and I reckon this was a much better value for the price .. BUT .. the day after I ordered this coffee maker I saw the same model at Target for $20. But I’m still pleased with my buy .. and I’m enjoying coffee from this model as I write this.

Very poor quality carafe
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
After using this product for less than a week, the carafe broke in my hand while I was drying it. It had not been dropped or banged. The glass was so flimsy. We chose this model because we wanted a 4-5 cup maker, but we will not buy this brand again. Of course, the warranty does not cover glass parts, so we are back to using the ancient carafe from our Mr. Coffee.

“Drip” coffee maker is right!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have place up with this wretched coffee maker for over a year, but today I have finally had enough. The ONLY redeeming thing about this coffee maker is the carafe size. The 5-cup carafe is hard to find and was the reason I bought it, and it’s the only reason I have place up with it for this long. I am the only coffee drinker in my family so the size was just right. But, after a year of trying, I still cannot for the life of me, pour a cup of coffee from this thing with out dribbling it all over the counter. Pour quick, pour slow, change the angle of trajectory… it does not matter, it drips EVERY FREAKING TIME! Here’s what else I despise about this thing. It has no “sneak-a-cup” feature (silly me… I thought this feature was standard on all coffee makers — incorrect.) This means I either have to wait for the full five cups of coffee to brew (which on some mornings feels like FOREVER) before I can pour a cup, or do a lightning quick swap of carafe with mug so that the coffee doesn’t drip onto the hot plate making that sizzling burnt coffee smell, let it drip directly into the cup and then do a lightning quick swap back). The small skinny window on the water reservoir is hard to see, especially once condensation starts building up on it. The buttons are so tiny and flat that they are more like braille. “I reckon I pushed the right one… Or did I?… I don’t know… Is the light on?” Do yourself a favor and pass on this one. It isn’t worth the frustration.

Fantastic Coffee Maker

Every feature is cool except the permanent filter. There is still some ground coffee pass through it.

Nice for the price
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This coffee maker works just fine. The coffee brews quite quick, but still has excellent flavor. The gold reusable filter does a better job of filtering than paper filters. All in all, I’m pleased with this buy.

Greatest small coffee maker I’ve every owned.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this coffee maker because I am the only one in my house who drinks coffee and because I was spending $2.34 at Dunkin Donuts every morning during the week, and running out on Saturday and Sunday (or my husband would go out) for a huge cup, AND, because going to Dunkin Donuts on some days, the temptation was impossible to get a mufin or something I shouldn’t eat. In one pot (makes 5 6oz cups), I can make exactly what I need (which, after some experimenting, takes 4 cups of water and 4 tablespoons of coffee to fill my 24 oz travel mug (made by Copco if anyone’s interested, since they’re so hard to find) leaving enough room for my milk). The machine has a clock, an auto set timer, and goes off automatically after 2 hours. It also has a permanent filter which is really simple to clean. I rinse out the coffee grinds, wash it with soap and water, and let it drip dry. Cleaning the parts takes less than 5 minutes. I would certainly recommend it. As said above, it saves money, diet and also saves time in the morning, since the coffee is already brewed when I am ready to go, and all I need to do is pour it in the mug, add splenda and milk, and I’m on my way – WAY better than waiting in line at Dunkin Donuts!

Place your cup of coffee in the microwave…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Fantastic machine for people who don’t drink much coffee, and don’t want to hassle with paper filters. Simple to clean up. The programming function is simple and simple to learn and set.
Even if the machine is unplugged, it takes only a few seconds to reprogram it.
Regarding the comment about the coffee not being hot enough. Well, for only a few cups of coffee, keeping it too hot will evaporate the coffee away too quickly, so they set it low on purpose. Simple remedy- when you pour yourself a cup, place it in the microwave and heat it up more for a minute, then you’re set!

You get what you pay for
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This coffee maker is fantastic as far as size is concerned, as there is only one person in our home that drinks coffee. You can get at least large 2 mugs of coffee. Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. The coffee pot is very leaky and makes a mess on the counter. We have been unable to find paper filters that fit. The worst part is, it brews very bitter and unflavorful coffee, regardless of whether you use the best quality coffee or not.
This was a waste of money as after a few weeks of having this item, we have now ordered the 5 cup Zojirushi Zutto which brews fantastic coffee, thanks to the cone filter and high quality construction.

Just Right Size
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Haven’t had much luck with Mister Coffees lately, thermal fuses not holding up in several models. Tried this one for it’s 1 cup larger size and I’m very satisfied so far. Yes, you have to pour it very slowly when full. Resevior holds all the water the carafe holds, unlike Mr. C. It does have a loud clicking when cycling the warming plate on and off. The washable filter and measuring spoon was a surprise. So it’s just a matter of durabilty now. The blister buttons might be the first to go. Clock is not gaining time like Mr. C.

Like the timer option. Coffee maker is simple to use. Tiny so it doesn’t take up too much counter space. Like it!

Dont buy
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
As MANY other reviews across the Internet point out, it drips like crazy when pouring. I have had small coffeemakers before and not had this problem. I tired to adapt by pouring slowly, but just couldn’t pour slowly enough on a regular basis. Also, the coffee warmer is not adequate, coffee gets tepid. Black&Decker does not acknowledge the problem. A black-eye for them.

Nice small coffee maker
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Shipped very quickly. It’s small, only 2 or 3 cups(at the most), but certainly sufficient for one or two people. We’ve had it for a few weeks and it’s served us very well. Have no complaints. Coffee brews quickly and taste excellent. What more could you want! Just be prepared for its small size.

GoodLlittle Device
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Does a excellent job as advertised. Though billed as a 5 cup maker, realistically makes 2 full coffee mugs of freshly brewed coffee with a small left over for a warm-up.
For people who complain of leakage or dribbling, you must raise the lid with your thumb when pouring. If the liquid touches the lid, any coffee maker pot will leak. This is especially right when refilling the reservoir because we all tend to just dump the water in. Take this simple step and the frustration disappears.

We like the coffee maker at work, especially because it turns off by itself, a problem we had with the previous coffee maker. It makes just two mugs.. Would buy again

Fantastic coffe pot but…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
This coffee pot is fantastic. I had a four cup coffee pot that just never made quite enough coffee for two. When it finally broke I was thrilled to find a five cup! I like the fact that is is programmable. I also like the fact that it has a two hour automatic shut off. It makes just enough coffee for my fiance and I. So far I have not used the permanent filter, but it looks like it will work. I have some leftover paper filters that I want to use up first. The negative aspects are that it is hard to see the water level indicator. I am under the age of 30 and really struggle to see how much water is the water resivour. Like another reviewer mentioned a floating red ball would have been a right asset. The other negative is that no matter how hard I try, I always spill water when pouring water from the pot. This is not a sometimes problem. It is a daily problem. Overall this is a fantastic coffee pot if you have excellant vision and a dish rag handy to clean up the water spills.

excellent 4 two
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a excellent one for two. The permanent filter is a plus for there is no extra coast for filters. But if your a couple who drinks more then two cups each then you will certainly want something larger then the four cups.

Best coffee maker at the given price
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is my first coffee maker. I have been a native tea drinker. I started drniking coffee since the past 6 months and bought Black and Decker as it is supposed to be a well loved brand with coffee makers. I was amazed to find that Black and Decker had delivered a fantastic product at the given price. The reusable permanent filter was a fantastic add-on. It saved me couple of buks that I would have spent on paper filters. The coffee maker serves dual purpose because amazingly I can also brew light tea using the same filter. The programmable option allows me to prepare coffee before I wake up and the machine keeps it warm for 2 hours before it shuts down. All in all I am very satisfied with the product.

I don’t like drinking pastic
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This coffeemaker had every feature I could possibly want. But, even after running vinegar through it three times, and water through it three times, it STILL left an extreme plastic taste in my coffee. After two mornings of tossing my coffee, I called Amazon, and they sent me a replacement…same B&D coffeemaker (I thought it might just be a fluke with the one I had). I had the EXACT same problem with the second one. I have owned over a dozen coffeemakers in my lifetime, including B&D brands, but I have NEVER had a coffeemaker make worse tasting coffee, and it frightened me that it is leeching plastic, and I might be drinking that plastic. So, I sent the second one back also. Then I went and bought a small cheapie coffeemaker from a brick and mortar store, just because I needed one. While it does not have all the bells and whistles like this one, it does make a beverage that really TASTES like coffee. Amazon was FANTASTIC with the returns though, and this is the reason I LIKE to shop on this site.

Perfect for 2
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This is a nice, reasonably priced coffee maker. It makes enough coffee for my husband and myself without a lot of wasted coffee. The programmable function, auto shut off, and permanent filter are all nice features.
I remember that other reviewers commented on drips. But, I’ve noticed that happens w/ other coffee makers, too, and I reckon it’s just a matter of pouring slowly when the carafe is full.
The reason I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 is two-fold: (1) it makes a excellent cup of coffee, but it could probably be more flavorful; and (2) the structure of the machine looks a bit shoddier than how it’s depicted in the picture (a sort of flimsy-ish plastic).
Overall, this is a fantastic coffee maker for one or two people, and a excellent value.

5 cup coffee maker
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
The Black & Decker coffee maker is a fantastic thought. Very often you run out of coffee for 4 when you use mugs. But—The controls on the coffee maker are very poorly and cheaply designed. The plastic coverings on the controls are flimsy and don’t seem like they are going to hold up.

Makes a excellent cup of coffee
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I was pretty impressed by this small guy. The only problem is that it doesn’t have automatic turn off and it can get pretty hot if you leave it on. But the coffee tastes excellent-it’s simple to use and it’s small. I like it!

works fantastic for me
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
It’s simple to use and simple to clean because of its simple design. It really has the auto shut-off function. A tiny bit of coffee ground would pass through the permanent mesh filter, but it’s not a huge deal (I never tried using paper filter with it). It makes excellent coffee too. Overall a excellent product.

Fantastic but needs more heat!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
For the price and the features, I don’t reckon you can beat this small guy. My only complaint is that the coffee is not as hot as I’d like it to be, even as soon as it’s done brewing. It’s not hot, more like warm to very warm. Other than that, it’s a fantastic small unit. Just the right size, and very user friendly.

Incredible small brewer for cheap! Able to “Potless-Brew!”
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Just right for a quick “Single” cup of coffee. I brew directly into the cup so I don’t need (or want) the mid-brewing auto-shutoff for pouring during brewing. On units that have temporary brew-stopping device will not brew directly into a mug or cup. Reason is the small spring-loaded shut-off valve is always on “off” when the pot is removed. So, this unit is just fantastic for a pot-less brewing directly into your mug.
Fantastic for the one or two people who want decaf when you’re brewing a pot of regular.
Linens-n-Things has it for $19.95 less 20% if you get their coupons in local flyers. I paid $16.00, incredible.
I don’t like permanent filters because they retain the coffee oil after brewing and that oil film eventually turns rancid unless you wash the basket after each brewing with detergent to remove the oil.
Does anyone know who makes a 4-cup round paper filter for use? I am using a #2 cone filter but it fits sloppily.
Suggestions?
