sub par end

After reading many reviews of people raving about Bialetti, I am a bit disappointed. I received my pot this week and while I am no coffee expert, I do know a thing or two about workmanship. Here are some defects that shouldn’t occur on a high quality pot: the lid is poorly soldered onto the pot (it doesn’t even close properly), the hard plastic on the lid handle was far from smooth and had parts of it sticking out on the side, and lastly the stainless steel used to make the bottem part was a different shade of color compared to the rest of the pot.
The coffee, from my untrained palate tasted very average.
Like this a lot
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This works VERY well to make a strong coffee that is more intense than that from any drip or press coffee maker but not so powerful as a huge high pressure espresso machine in a cafe. Somewhere in between – but quite nice and inexpensive for the home. Cleans up easily. These are made in India (probably by guys sitting with hammers on the sidwalk) so may vary a bit sample to sample.
The only problem is the rubber seal ring – this gradually wears out and if you don’t find an original Bialetti replacement, it can leak steam no matter how hard you gorilla down the threads.
Fantastic coffee maker!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This elegant stainless steel coffee maker makes very excellent strong coffee. Although not exactly espresso (which has to be made with pressurized steam), it’s close and less expensive. Plus you can avoid the cost of paper filters. But mainly I like the elegance of having this gorgeous work of art on my table holding several demi-tasse cups of fantastic coffe. It’s simple to clean and maintain that shiny surface.
2 orders, 2 defective pots!!
Buyer beware!

I am so disappointed in this pot! When it arrived, the lid was pushed down into the pot to the point that it could NOT be opened! I returned it immediately and requested another. The SECOND pot arrived and was in the SAME condition!! Evidently, this company does not check the pots before being shipped.
Tall rusty goo lattee
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I was keen to get this, as I own an aluminum stovetop espresso and it stopped working. I bought this stainless steel one thinking it would be fantastic. It arrived banged up and scratches were everywhere. To make it worse, some of the scratches were thick with some rusty goo material inside of the scratches. I also noticed weird stains on the inside of the coffee piece and the water piece. I didn’t even use it. I’m not drinking coffee mixed with rust and goo. I sent it back immediately. I’ll pass on the tall rusty goo latte.
Nice coffee, flimsy lid
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This does make a nice cup of coffee (as other reviewers have said). The lid is very flimsily attached, which makes me a small nervous though – I’m not sure how long it will last.
Just right

I bought this product from amazon about six months ago, so I’ve had plenty of time to get a feel for this coffee pot. Now, I’m not an espresso fan…I just like realllllly strong coffee. I have the four cup pot, and I take the coffee that it makes and add 1 cup of water….and that is what I consider the perfect cup of coffee. The first couple of brews are pretty nasty….I just threw them out. But, once this baby gets seasoned it’s all uphill.
Piece of junk …
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my girlfriend for a present. What a mistake. It leaked, made weak espresso and was so cheaply made the handle broke off while unscrewing the top. The stainless is very thin as well. I am a huge fan of the el cheapo Bialetti – this one was supposed to be a nice present but was just the opposite. Shameful … people should send junk like this back.
Incredible espresso maker
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I really like this product. I got it as a gift for my folks and they like it too. My folks had an older moka express and used it for years. Being from India, we don’t drink espresso like the rest of the world, but our cuppa is more of a latte – made with milk and sugar and brewed on the stove top. We traditionally use something called a coffee filter – it works roughly like a percolater does. This filter usually tkaes time to get enough espresso to make one cup of coffee, but Bialetti does a gorgeous job in just about a minute. And the coffee tastes so flavorful when made with a Bialetti. It is so simple to use and clean. A must have for any coffee lover.
I’m satisfied…

This was an ideal upgrade from a machine I’d had for years. It is simple to use, simple to clean, and looks nice. Be sure to screw the top and bottom together straight and securely. I made this mistake on a groundbreaking new flat stove; cleaning up the mess was terrible enough, but I’m still hearing it from my wife. Lesson learned! This is user error-the product is fine.
Top Notch Customer Service
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I’ve only used this maker a couple times – and the coffee has been fantastic. I’m very glad I made this buy. The pot is gorgeous, too. What I want to rave about is the customer service of Bialetti! (I’m sure the customer service of Amazon.com is fantastic, too, but I’ve never needed to use it.) A freak accident blew a hole in the bottom of my groundbreaking new pot on its second use. I looked on the internet to see if I could buy a new bottom, but found nothing. So, I contacted Bialetti with my tale of terrible timing (new pot/blown electric coil), and they responded immediately. I now can use my pot again, and am a Bialetti customer for life!
perfect! If you buy it elsewhere…2nd one defective

After struggling with the choice to buy an expensive automatic espresso machine, I started investigating stove top models….and I am so glad I did. This small pot makes brilliant espresso. Both of my daughters now want them, claiming the espresso is as excellent as that in the coffee shops. I`m in heaven with this thing…..update Jan. 2010….My original was bought from bialetti online. the last 2 bought on Amazon, both defective…waiting to hear from them whether they`ll refund a defective product that I gave as a Christmas gift……this will determine whether I continue to be an Amazon customer,,,,,just saying, beware of their return policy, even if it`s not your fault!
MAKES BRILLIANT COFFEE. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This small coffee maker is perfect for two people. I use it to make regular coffee for myself and my husband. The coffee is the best coffee I have ever had. The beans never burn and the taste is fresh and clean, never bitter. This is my third Bialetti Stovetop Perc. and I like all of them. One I bought for a Mother on Mother’s day. She likes it! It is nearly like a novelty gift because most people here have not seen such a small coffee maker that comes apart! I know it is for making expresso, but since I am not a fan of Expresso, I use it for regular coffee and it is fantastic!
Fantastic small espresso pot….
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Fantastic small pot. Really simple to use. It states it makes
6 espresso cups, but I found it only make 5. Other then that
it makes fantastic tasting coffee. I really bought a larger
bialetti for when we have company….
Fantastic Espresso maker

This is a fantastic one person, (PNW) espresso maker. Makes one huge mug of espresso with fantastic flavor and texture. It goes with us on the boat along with the 9 cup version for when we have guests.
Like it!!!!!!!

Like it, like it like, like it. I work in a Donut Shop for nearly 10 years. I have tried different kinds of machine and coffee to make a very strong coffee. I finished up returning all of them. This one I will certainly keep it.Here are some reasons you should buy it:
1. Simple to make a strong and tasty cup of coffee in minutes
2. Simple to clean
3. Quick and quick……….super quick. 8 to 10 minutes. I used to wait for nearly 20 to 25 minutes and very troublesome for using other method. This one is the best.
I bought the 6-cup stainless steel one. Just 8 to 10 minutes and you get the best coffee why can’t you wait? If everyone uses this machine, I bet all those fancy coffee shop will close their doors very sooon LoL.
The last method I use is a dripping method that I have to place boiling water and let it drip for nearly 20 to 25 minutes just to make about 2 to 3 oz. of strong coffee. I bought those junks in Asian Supermarket…..Why haven’t I found this one sooner. Anyway……it is the best your money can buy. I plot to buy a BIGGGGER ONE to make more coffee so that I can make ice blend coffee for this summer and sell to the customers.
Brilliant expresso maker!

This happens to be a coffee lovers dream and it’s perfect for your home made “cafe con leche” coffee. I prep the water & coffee for my husband in the Bialetti before going to bed, so that all he has to do is place it in the stove top & heat up 1/2 a cup of 1 % milk, add brown suger and place it in his tin coffee mug on his ride to work. Yes the perfect eye opener for those dull traffic morning drives. Very elegant design. The inside does get a small shabby, but the outside always looks like new.
Fantastic for people with IBS

The coffee made by this coffee maker is incredible! Tastes much better than normal drip and simpler on the stomach.

Simple and Sweet

No fuss, no muss, simple to use and clean up. I’m not an espresso connosieur but I do like a excellent cup now and then. I have an electric brand name espresso maker that’s a major effort to use and clean up. It has been retired in favor of this small gem. I’m all about “simple”. I’m also in favor of stainless steel versus aluminum. For that reason -alone- I chose this version over Bialetti’s other models. The only issue I have with this small pot is that it’s hard to tell when it is completely done brewing. It gurgles as it brews, but one doesn’t want to let it gurgle too long to avoid bitterness. I’m amazed at how quickly a pot is brewed. Living at high-altitude, liquids boil much quicker than at sea level, but a full pot of espresso is brewed in about 2 minutes here. Simple to clean, simple to use. Brews a tasty cup or two of espresso. Much simpler than the fussy machines you pay thousands of dollars for.
You don’t want to know me before my first coffee, but this pot does the trick!

For several years I have been using stove top expresso makers to make my morning coffee. I have always used to cheap variety, and as a result have gone though quite a number of them. After the last one nearly exploded on the stovetop, I chose to bite the bullet and pay for a more expensive one. I am so glad I did. Not only does this coffee maker make really excellent tasting coffee, it is also a very attractive piece of kitchenware in its own right. I am also glad that I went for the 6 cup over the smaller version. Now I know that if you make expresso properly then a six cup pot should make enough coffee for 6, but I find that with a tablespoon of non expresso beans per person, this small pot makes enough coffee of an adequate level of potency for two cups of coffee, enough for my partner and I to both have a excellent start to our day. There is something satisfying (and comfortingly ritualistic) about making coffee each morning using a stovetop coffee maker and this one has taken care of all my coffee making needs.
fantastic coffee maker

Fantastic coffee maker.
I also have an Espresso machine, but I changed it because there are too many plastic parts in the machine (plastic and hot water – I don’t want the chemicals leaching into my coffee) I like to use the Bialetti everyday. It gives you fantastic coffee. I use strong espresso coffee beans for a fantastic flavor. And it made from stainless steel much better than the aluminum once.
Saving $5 a day now…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This small pot along with the Aerolatte Milk Frother makes fantastic lattes and has been saving me $5 a day for the past couple weeks. I still plot to stop at my favorite coffee shop once a week or so to pick up some freshly roasted beans.
In all honesty, the coffee shop espresso is a bit richer than I have made in this so far. But, it is very excellent and I plot to continue saving myself $5 a day ($1,825 a year!)
Oh, if you don’t like it, chances are excellent you may not be following the directions…Bialetti Class 4-Cup Stovetop Percolator
Fantastic Pot

Makes a fantastic cup of coffee, simple to clean. The handle broke on mine after nine months of use.
Yummy!

I like it. It reminds me of sitting in Spain. I have had several high priced espresso machines-two I gave away, one I threw away (coffee/espresso machine-it sounded too excellent to be right. . .and it was) and one I save for company. This gives you that strong, strong espresso that is between liquid and solid-heaven! A small frothed milk and it is a dream.
I don’t reckon you can get a better cup. In the first week, it paid for itself in the money I was spending in buying mochas out. Like having a cup in the morning and one at night. . .decadent? yep.
Soo simple to use. I like frothing the milk while the espresso brews and mixing. Some have said nuke it; but, as I grow older, I neither like anything too hot or too cold. I reckon the temperature is perfect with frothed milk right from the fridge, a pinch of chocolate and a small nutmeg. Add the espresso and makes two very large mochas.
I can’t wait for morning to have another.
Works ok, but NOT made in Italy
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Bialetti apparently contracts this item out to India and is marked on on the box with an add-on sticker. The unit works ok, but the workman ship is shoddy with filed welds showing and low quality plastic handles.
Not so fantastic

I’ve owned several stove top espresso machines. I find this one is hard to screw closed properly and therefore doesn’t make a full pop of coffee. The coffee it makes is okay, but not wonderful.
fantastic small pot!!!

using this for a week and am really hooked! Simple to use and clean and I’ve never had a better cup of espresso!
A nice, stylish, and well-made maker.
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Nice looking, all stainless construction, reasonably-priced, and decent espresso. If I would take more time and heat it up more slowly I could probably make it even better, and end up with crema on top. I guess that’s the huge difference between this small pot and my friend’s $2,000+ Jura. I have to do all the work. I can live with that. I had an aluminum pot at one time, but it got all grody on the inside. I like the stainless.
I agree with the comments that the six-cup model can only make six really, really small cups. That’s why they make espresso cups so small, and don’t fill them but maybe half-full. Of course, if you use a six-cup to make two cups you’re going to have some pretty wired guests . . .
Very nice.

I like this pot. It is quick, very pretty and makes wonderful Espresso. Highly recommend.
